Reading an action
What priority, confidence, effort, impact range and business value mean on an Action plan card.
Each card on the Action plan shows five numbers. All but business value are worked out from your Search Console data. They are estimates, not promises.
Impact range
Shown as, for example, "12–30 clicks / period". It is our estimate of the extra clicks you could gain if the change works, over the same weeks the evidence covers.
The top of the range is the gain if the change works in full. The bottom is a cautious figure, because most changes do not deliver the full gain.
Confidence
A percentage that says how much data backs the action. An action seen across tens of thousands of impressions gets a higher confidence than one built on a few hundred.
Confidence does not say how likely the change is to work. It says how sure we are that the pattern is real.
Effort
A rough guide to how much work the change takes, from 1 (quick) to 5 (a lot). A new title is quick. A new or much better page takes more work.
Business value
How much this page or query matters to your business, from 1 to 5. We cannot know that your pricing page matters more than an old blog post, so tell us: change it with the Business value menu on the card.
The change saves straight away and the queues re-sort. Later refreshes keep the value you chose.
Priority
The number the queues are sorted by. Bigger gains, stronger evidence and less work all push an action up. Your business value rating then moves it up or down.
So a quick, well-evidenced change to an important page rises to the top.
