Plans, trials and billing
What each plan includes, how free trials work, and what happens to your data when you change plan.
Plans
Plans differ in how many sites a team can have, how many experiments it can run, how much history we keep, how many pages and searches we keep for each site each day, and how often we email alerts.
| Plan | Price | Sites | History kept | Pages and searches per site a day | Experiments |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Growth | £25 a month | 5 | 90 days | Top 5,000 | 15 |
| Pro | £100 a month | 20 | 365 days | Top 10,000 | 50 |
| Agency | £320 a month | 50 | 730 days | Top 25,000 | Unlimited |
| Starter | Free | 1 | 30 days | Top 1,000 | 3 |
Search Console keeps 16 months of data, so the first import brings at most 16 months whatever the plan. Longer histories build up from there.
Every experiment that has not been cancelled counts towards the experiment limit, including finished ones.
The daily limit keeps each site's most-clicked pages and searches. A search counts once for each of your pages it showed. Site totals are always complete. See How long your data is kept.
Billing is per team. Each team has its own plan. See Teams and members.
Free trials
Trials come from offers: a promo link, or an offer we run at sign-up. A trial gives your personal team a paid plan until its end date. You do not need a card.
The Billing page shows when your trial ends, and we send a reminder email before it does.
To keep the plan, press Keep on it from the Billing page before the trial ends (or Choose another plan). Your first payment is taken on the day the trial ends, not before.
If you do not subscribe, your team moves to the free Starter plan when the trial ends.
What happens when you move to a smaller plan
This applies when a trial ends, when you downgrade, and when a cancelled plan runs out.
- History. At the nightly clean-up we delete the data older than your new plan keeps. If you upgrade again later, we import it back from Search Console, as far as Search Console still holds it (16 months). See How long your data is kept.
- Daily detail. New days, and recent days as they are imported again, keep the smaller plan's number of pages and searches. Older detail goes as those days pass the plan's history.
- Sites. If you have more sites than the new plan allows, the ones you added first keep updating. The rest keep their data but stop updating until you upgrade or remove some.
- Features that need history. Traffic decline needs 56 days of history, so it only works on plans that keep at least that much.
Upgrade
Open Billing and choose Upgrade on the plan you want. A preview shows what you pay now: the difference for the rest of the current billing period. Then confirm.
The new plan starts once the payment goes through. If it is still waiting on payment after a day, the upgrade lapses and you stay on your current plan.
When the new plan keeps more history, we import the older days from Search Console automatically. A bigger daily limit applies from the next import, which redoes the last 14 days.
Downgrade
Choose Downgrade on the plan you want. The preview shows the credit for your unused time, which comes off your next invoice. If the smaller plan keeps less history, the preview says so before you confirm.
A downgrade takes effect at once.
If the smaller plan allows fewer sites than you have, we ask you to remove some first.
Cancel
Press Cancel subscription on the Billing page. Your plan stays until the end of the period you have paid for, then your team moves to Starter.
Changed your mind? Press Resume subscription before the period ends and the plan carries on as before.
Cards and invoices
Cards and invoices on the Billing page opens Stripe's billing portal. Update your card and download invoices there.
If a payment fails
Your plan stays while Stripe retries the card. The team owner gets an email, and the Billing page shows a button to update the card or confirm the payment.
Who can manage billing
Owners and admins. Members can see the Billing page but cannot change the plan.
